Belgian Waffle Scarf

A few months ago, in my frenzy to get a few gifts knitted, I misread the "recipe" and ended up with a rather nondescript, brown scarf. It reminded me of a long Belgian waffle and, well, I didn't think it had a future except to be ripped out. But I found an interesting scarf treatment in the premier issue of Vogue Knitting's Knit.1 magazine. So I took 12" lengths of Jiffy Thick and Quick and wove them through the the scarf and now I have a waffle with butter, brown sugar, syrup, and cherries. It still looks like something only a Klingon might enjoy.... Ha!

The diagonal eyelet scarf pattern came from Creative Knitting's September 2006 issue. It was knitted with Lion Brand's Woolease. I also knitted a pink version and it looked much nicer. Perhaps, it's just that shade of brown that doesn't work for me.

Pomegranate Hats

It's a new world out there. After the green lushness of Spring and Summer, late Autumn's dark tones provide a different inspiration. Lucky for me, my yarn stash and the odds-and-ends bin held enough yardage to knit a few hats in colors that would match my garden scene. They're knitted in the round in a K3 P2 rib for 7-1/2" before shaping the top.

They were all made with Lion Brands Chunky wool and acrylic blend. The ribbed hat pattern is from Vogue Magazine 2002 Men's Issue. For the last four years, I've knitted this hat every winter. Wonder who needs a new hat this year? In any case, guess it's time to weave in the ends.

First Frost...

two weeks ago and, the next morning, the sage was plated silver for an entire day. The mercury fell again that week but on the following morning there was nothing to see. Between the days, Life had faded away unseen.
